This was part of European Escapade - Day 6 ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ท ๐Ÿ”—.

We joined the walking tour at 10:00am and the people assembled were divided into 2 groups. We started off by walking through the Monastiraki Flea Market to see the Stoa Poikile (Painted Porch). We also got to know about the Ancient Agora of Athens featuring the ruins of an ancient Greek gathering place.

Next stop was Hadrian’s Library, which were Roman ruins of a library and cultural complex constructed in 132 CE by Emperor Hadrian. It also had the remains of the Basilica of Megale Panagia.

From there we walked to see the Tower of the Winds, an ancient octagonal tower used as a weather station with sundials and a wind vane.

We then headed to the Holy Church of the Holy Apostles of Solakis. We could also see the National Observatory of Athens and the Temple of Hephaestus in the background.

After a quick coffee break, we headed to Pnyx Hill where we got to know about the history and evolution of Greek democracy.

There was also a nice view point to see the Acropolis of Athens. Our tour ended at the base of Acropolis of Athens.
