We started our journey to South America from Mumbai with Ethiopian Airlines. Our first flight was to Addis Ababa. Breakfast was served before landing.
We had some time in Addis Ababa to visit the Plaza Premium Lounge. They had Chechebsa and Shiro Wot for breakfast, among other usual things. And of course, Ethiopian coffee.
After spending some time there we headed to the gate for our next flight to Buenos Aires via Sao Paulo. The gate area was packed and it indicated that it was going to be a very full flight. We had preselected seats in the last row, where the aircraft narrows and curves in, and the row of 3 seats becomes 2 seats. That way, it would be just the two of us in the window and aisle.
There was a beverage service and meal service after take-off. The in-flight entertainment had one area of improvement: most movies didn’t have subtitles. I think subtitles really help, especially in flights where there is a lot of ambient noise and the headphones are also not great.
We flew across Africa and left the mainland around Libreville and shortly after crossed the equator from the northern hemisphere to the southern hemisphere. With that, we began the long crossing of the South Atlantic Ocean. We saw land the next time as we approached the coast of Brazil. There was another meal service before landing, and we touched down in Sao Paulo on time.
A lot of the passengers disembarked at Sao Paulo. The passengers continuing to Argentina had to stay on board. Officials came and checked our boarding passes to ensure that we were supposed to continue on the journey. Cleaning crew boarded the aircraft and did what they had to do. Fresh meals were also loaded for the next part of the journey. It was quite cold outside and we got a taste of that through the doors that were open behind us. There were neighboring aircraft that had flown in from Europe.
It was almost dark by the time we took off from Sao Paulo. There was a meal service during the flight. We had amazing views of Buenos Aires at night as we approached EZE.
Immigration was smooth, and we had to share the address we were going to be staying at. Passing customs control, we reached the public area of the airport. We bought a SUBE card from Open 25 HS store for ARS 1500 and loaded that with ARS 8500 balance.
We followed the signs and waited for Bus 8, which would take us close to our Airbnb. It took a while for the bus to arrive. It took us about an hour to reach, and the driver asked us to get down at a stop that was close to where we wanted to go. We walked a few blocks and reached the Airbnb. Our host arrived in a few minutes, let us in, and showed us the apartment, etc. We had not really done much, but were tired from the travel and it was late, so we crashed for the night.
