The security check for the morning flights opened at 1:00 AM, and we headed through. We found a carpeted zone in the departure area near charging points. We hooked up our device for recharging, and also tried to get some sleep before the next flight.
The flight was not too long, and there was a quick beverage service. We landed at Iguazu Falls on time. There is no public transport from the airport to the National Park; you would have to take the bus into town and then a bus back to the National Park, which would add a lot of unnecessary travel time. We took the taxi from the airport and it cost ARS 25000 each way. Our driver dropped us off at the entrance of the National Park and gave us his WhatsApp number to message him when we were ready to head back to the airport.
We got in line to buy the tickets to the National Park. It was ARS 45000 per person for international visitors. After that we looked for the luggage storage. We had to go to the cafe at the far left, when facing the entrance, and paid ARS 13400 there. We put one of our backpacks in the locker and carried the other one with us for the water bottles etc.
We passed through the entrance where they scanned our tickets. After that we headed to the Central Station to board the Jungle Train. We got allotted the 11:30 AM departure.
We took the train to the last stop which was Garganta Station. From here, there was a long walkway — basically a metal bridge spanning across the water — until we reached Devil’s Throat.About half of the river’s flow falls into this long and narrow chasm, also called Garganta del Diablo in Spanish. It was amazing to see the sheer amount of water and the force with which it was flowing down. We walked back to the Garganta Station and took the train back to the Cataratas Station.
From there, we first took the Upper Circuit (or Circuito Superior), which was a hike that took us along the upper edges of the waterfalls and brought us back to Cataratas Station.
We then took the Lower Circuit, which was a longer hike that took us along the base of the waterfalls and much closer to the river and water.
It was amazing to see the various falls from both vantage points, and that made the long hikes worth it.
We didn’t have enough time to take the boat ride and were also quite tired. It had been a long day, hot and humid. We took the train back to the Central Station and messaged our taxi driver to pick us up.
The ride back to the airport was smooth and we visited the Iguazu by AMAE Lounge before our flight back to Buenos Aires.
The flight back was uneventful, with a quick beverage service. We landed at AEP airport and booked a taxi through Cabify to our Airbnb.
